Steve sold his first S&H Torino in 2002 and purchased a 1971 Mach 1 Mustang. It wasn't until six months later that he realized he made an error in selling the Torino. Although his Mach 1 was one of only 35 built, he did not have the same love for the Mustang as he did his Gran Torino. After four painstaking years of searching, he finally found an unmolested 1975 Torino. It was originally owned by an elderly couple who had purchased it new in 1975 from Fred Jones Ford in Tulsa, Oklahoma where it remained for 31 years, operating at an average of only 2,000 miles a year.

In early July, 2006, the owners willed the car to their nephew in Michigan. As soon as the car went up for sale, Steve called, and to his surprise the car was located only 2 miles from his house. The car was immaculate - boasting 62,300 original miles and all original parts. It didn't take long for Steve to close the $4,000 deal.

After he brought the car home, Steve was able to take an extended vacation and transformed the pastel blue Torino into a "Starsky & Hutch" clone in less than 4 weeks! He finished just in time for the 11th annual Woodward Dream Cruise, where many of these photos were taken.

Steve's Torino was voted "Most Photographed" at the Woodward Dream Cruise, and had the honors of driving in the Official Opening Parade along with other classic/nostalgic police cars.

Steve's Torino is 2B Red with a 9D White stripe. The engine is a numbers matching 351 Windsor, slightly modified with cam, intake, 4 bbl carburetor and Ford Motor Sport brushed aluminum valve covers. The original interior was blue, so Steve removed it and dyed it black. It has Ansen Sprint-style Mags, Hi-Jacker air shocks, and 2-chamber Flowmasters on 2.5" exhaust.

The car sports a 1975 Motorola Police Radio, Whelen Epsilon Siren, 100 watt speaker, and standard issue magnetic mount police light.

Steve's car has 72,000 original miles on it as of December, 2011. The total cost for replication, including the car's purchase, was only $7,965! Steve's story is proof that where there is a will, there is a way! If you want it bad enough, you'll look hard enough and work hard enough to have your own S&H Torino - and it doesn't have to break the bank!
