| This car is probably the rags-to-riches story of the
decade! Ten weeks before these photos were taken at our S&H Torino Owners Reunion at the Carlisle, Pennsylvania
All-Ford Nationals, this car was in a chicken coop in Georgia, and it looked like it really belonged there! Except
for a couple of beautiful cars we've seen before, this one turned heads more than any other at the reunion. In
fact, Shari won Second Place out of 17 cars in the S&H Torino category! Read the story of this car, in Shari's
own words, below. |

| "This is a 1974 S&H 'clone' that started out
as a Gran Torino Brougham. It was found in Georgia and became a 10 week restoration/conversion project between
eight good friends. We worked on the car at night after many of us got home from our regular jobs, and on Saturdays
in an attempt to get it ready for the Carlisle S&H Reunion on June 3-5, 2005. It was originally blue with
a 302 engine, automatic transmission, and air conditioning. We purchased a black 1976 Gran Torino Brougham for
$300 to use as a parts car. We stripped both cars and picked the best chrome and stainless pieces to send for re-chroming
and re-anodizing. For the interior, we used the seats from the black car that were in good shape, ordered new
carpet and headliner, and dyed the remaining interior pieces black." |

"We were successful in making our deadline and
checked in at Carlisle on June 3rd - right on schedule. Since I've been back from the show, I've ordered a new
351W crate motor from Ford and had a new AOD transmission built for the car. We're also installing a new 364 Nextel
Cup 3rd member (rear end). I want to personally thank everyone who helped to make my dream come true and who worked
so many countless hours on this car. I look forward to seeing all our club members again at Evansville in September!"
Congratulations Shari, Tom, and all your friends! You did a fantastic job in an incredibly short amount of time,
and we're very glad to have you in the S&H Torino "family." We especially look forward to seeing
this car at the drag strip! These pictures hardly do the car justice, but take time to look at them all. |
