Sam G.'s 1974 Ford Gran Torino
"Starsky & Hutch"®Replica
|
|
|
| Sam purchased this car early in 2005 from Paul S. and Simon C.
in England. Paul and Simon have both owned "Starsky & Hutch" Torinos for several years, and in 2004
decided to put their experience to work by importing Torinos to convert into S&H Replicas. This is their first
creation, and it's a beauty. Sam says, "Paul and Simon's attention to detail on the project was exceptional,
and in my opinion the car is outstanding." The first 8 pictures on this page were sent to me in 2007, just
after the car was fitted with new bumpers, air shocks, and new interior door panels. |

| Even before Sam ever got to drive this car (registering
a car in England is a longer process than in the USA - remember that the next time you stand in line at the DMV)
it was attracting attention. In his first e-mail to me, Sam said, "I was waxing it in my driveway this afternoon
when a family pulled over in their car, got out with a camera, and asked me to take pictures of them standing next
to it! Incredible!" Get used to it, Sam! |

|
| Like a lot of S&H Torino owners, Sam has wanted
to own this car since he was a kid. Like many of us, he's in his "late thirties" now. Obviously influenced
by the TV show, Sam spent his early career as a policeman and now runs a surveillance and investigation company! |

| In addition to the S&H paint job, Sam's Torino
has freshly reupholstered seats, new carpet, and a new 351 Windsor engine. It's a 3-speed automatic (they all are,
originally) with floor shift, and with a dual cross-flow exhaust system that "sounds great." Sam is "delighted
with the car," and says, "I hope you will agree it looks absolutely fantastic." I do agree! Have
fun with it, Sam! Great job, Paul and Simon! |
