Like most people who own one of these, this is Pete's "childhood favorite car." Pete is a die-cast car collector and has always had a separate display for his die-cast Torinos. But now he has a real one, and he says, "it's hard to believe." He bought this car for $500 in November of 2004. The engine had to be gone through for "the usual things," and the car hadn't moved for at least two years before Pete bought it! The front end had to be completely rebuilt.

Pete says, "This whole experience of finding this car and now driving it is very strange to me, having been a fan of it for so long. I can remember saying years ago that if I had one of these cars I would drive it around. Well, that's exactly what I've been doing and it's like bringing my little die-cast car to life."

Pete's Chicago-built Gran Torino has 90,000 original miles on it and has never been in an accident. It has a 351 Windsor engine and dual Flowmasters, which give it a "nice, mean sound!" As you can see, it originally had a vinyl top and white interior. Great Job, Pete!
