This Limited Production S&H Gran Torino was for sale here on this web site in January 2003 when "Movie Mike" was looking for Torinos to rebuild for the film. He bought it and restored it, including a new paint job featuring a stripe of his own unique design instead of the original factory stripe. Unlike Hero Torino #1, this car already had bucket seats and floor shift. This car had only 54,000 original miles on it. The original engine was removed and replaced with a Monster 351 Windsor built by Mike's crew at Premiere Studio Rentals. Torinos #1 and #2 now look identical - only their mother (Mike) can tell them apart.
Penny and I (above) spent the whole day watching a couple of scenes from the "Starsky and Hutch" movie being filmed in Playa Del Rey, California, on April 29, 2003. S&H Torino Owners Steve B., and George G. were there, too! The four of us watched some filming, chatted with "background performers," stunt drivers, and crew members, but mostly gawked at Torino #2 (above) all day (#1 was in the shop, get more info here). Penny and I spent the next day on the set at Manhattan Beach, watching more filming, but this day was special because Steve and George were there, and we were seeing the film's stars (living and mechanical) for the first time. We also met Transportation Coordinator Jonathan Rosenfeld, Picture Car Coordinator Craig Lietzke, and Picture Car Mechanic Pete Mandell - three of the nicest guys in the movie industry! (Everyone in the Transpo. Dept. treated us great. Thanks again for the visit, guys!) Penny and I met "Movie Mike" a couple of days later - get more info here.
Barry has put his own custom touch on the car!
This car is "#2" of several Gran Torinos that "star" in the 2004 "Starsky & Hutch"®movie - see other Movie Torinos here!
