Mike H.'s Ford 1975 Ford Gran Torino® |
| Like many of us "old" guys, Mike has wanted a Gran Torino since he first saw the S&H TV show in the Seventies. He finally happened across a brown one in Clinton, British Columbia, Canada in September, 2003. The owner was a pleasant gentleman and said he had been trying to sell it all summer. Mike got it for $1,000 Canadian (about $887 US). It only had 78,000 original miles on it. History reports say the car was never registered outside British Columbia and never so much as had a broken glass insurance claim. | |||

| Mike says he got all the parts he needed thanks to this site and the great guys at Blue Oval and AKH Wheels. The body work was done by John Burns in Victoria, who took it on as a project he wanted to see completed. Mike thanks John's lovely wife Shelly for the countless weekends and nights she lost her husband to Mike's car! | |||

| Mike and John took the car apart and John long boarded the entire car. Any rust (there was very little) was cut out and re-welded with new metal. The interior was custom made by Perry Cosgrove at Buckets and Benches in Victoria. Putting the red stripes through the seats was Perry's idea and Mike really likes it. | |||

| The engine is a 351 Cleveland with a four-barrel Edelbrock carburetor. The factory air conditioning is still in it, but is currently unhooked. All the chrome was re-done by Victoria Plating. The body has three coats of primer, four coats of bright red, and three coats of clear. The black around the stripe was painted on prior to the white stripe (which is much better than tape). Everything except the engine and transmission has been replaced or upgraded. | |||

| Mike thanks his wife, Marina, for her understanding throughout the project, "especially when I kept going over budget." Mike loves his car and says his dream now is to organize an S&H Torino Owner's reunion in Victoria, eh! | |||
