Matt H.'s Limited Production 1976
"Starsky & Hutch"®Ford
Gran Torino®
|
|
Matt's Torino is originally an Oregon
car. There is no rust on it and the original Ford stripe was kept when the car was repainted. Matt had the car
shipped from the USA to his home in the UK and picked it up from London's Chatham docks where it barely fit on
the trailer! |
|
For the next six months, Matt carried
out lots of small jobs to bring it up to British ministry of transport standards, nothing too bad, he says, "just
the stuff that 30 year old cars suffer from."
Matt did change the wheels and tires to 15x8.8 with 275/15 on the rear and 14x8 with 245/14 on the front. |
|
Matt has the original build sheets,
and the car has all its correct fender tags and DSO numbers to confirm its identity as one of the "Starsky
& Hutch"®units Ford built in 1976.
The car has its original 460 engine with 4-barrel carb, limited slip rear differential, and original black front
split bench seat. |
|
Matt says it runs very well, and he put over 400 miles
on it in one week traveling to various UK car shows ('Atta boy, Matt! That's what these cars were built for - to
be driven and shown off!). He says it's fast, comfortable, and quiet with a "lovely V-8 soundtrack." |
