Graham S.'s 1974 Ford Gran Torino®

| Although he plans on putting a crate engine in it someday,
Graham's Gran Torino still has its original 302 engine in it, and the drivetrain, exhaust, etc. is all stock. Graham
purchased the car in November of 2008, the day after Thanksgiving. It was in Winnipeg, Canada, and he drove it
all the way back to his home in Chicago. It was brown with a black top and beige interior (see below). Graham
stripped the entire car down to nothing and sanded it to bare metal. He did all the bodywork and interior himself
over the winter. Sure, other people have done that, but check out the rest of the story below and you'll see that
there's something a little different about Graham's situation! |

Here's the unique part of Graham's story: he is a senior
in High School and he funded the entire project himself. Somehow, he found time to work on the car (he says that
was tough) between school, work, sports, etc. (and without his grades dropping, I bet).
Graham shot the primer himself, then had the red painted at a shop, then drew the white stripe and sprayed that
himself. He says, "It has been a really fun experience and I am really glad to finally be able to add it
to this site!"
Congratulations, Graham! You've done a great job with the car. We all look forward to seeing it in person sometime! |
